Texas Running Candlemaker

Folks ask me how I came to be a long distance runner and a guy building a website for runners. About six or seven years ago I worked for one of those Fortune 500 companies. It was one of those companies that were voted ten times to be the best place to work for in the United States. Also during this period my wife and I had a hobby of making candles.

We raised our kids and life was pretty normal until one day, I had an auto accident and had to have a knee replacement. That didn't happen from my many years of running for I had been a runner, even then for over ten years. To make a long story short I was off of work a whole lot longer than my surgeon had anticipated. So, ultimately I was let go while recuperating from the knee surgery.

Instead of being able to go back to work three weeks after the surgery it took nine months to get well. As a result of that, while off of work we seen we were going to have to provide our own income after the sick-leave checks stopped. Our little candle hobby had to turn, into being the "bring home the bacon business."

We took to the rode with our candles. We traveled all over Texas and Oklahoma with a production company called The Country Peddler's Show. We set up at malls, state fairs, convention centers, craft shows and flea markets. The Cooper's did that for over four years until fuel cost went sky high.

So we turned to hiring professional webmasters to bring our candles online. We were candle maker's we didn't know the internet. Believe this or not we paid three different companies to build us a website so we could sell our candles online. I keep paying the next company to fix the previous company's mistakes!

Well, after the third company that just about done us in, so we ended up, having to file for bankruptcy and I went back to work for another mechanical contracting company. All along I had been learning more and more about the internet, until I came across a company called Site-build-it. Come to find out we had been getting robbed all along from each webmaster company we hired. These people knew how to build beautiful websites.

But each one knew nothing about marketing. I didn't know much myself either, but I even then knew enough to tell each company we hired; to tell them when building our website to make sure it's designed so that search engine's spider's could pick up on keywords.

We eventually did sell online; we just never could get enough traffic to our website. We continued with our candle's locally at some stores and malls in and around the Dallas areas. I continued with my hobby as a runner and my wife had a couple battles with cancer; she had two bone marrow transplant's lymphoma non-hopkins.

I continued to learn about internet marketing, article writing and lead generation. At this point I knew I would never hire another SEO company again! You see I never gave up on the dream! I'm still moving forward. It just won't be with candles. And I still have my running and I have my wife. This brings me to Site-build-it. Here, it doesn't matter what your specialty is. At Site-build-it you can take any hobby or skill or art or whatever just do it!

They will make sure you can turn your speciality into an income from your website. I myself, the absolute worst at writing . . . see what mean! It gets better with practice. If you're a little weak on your writing skills, they'll help you brush up on that too! Turn your passion into bucks.

At this point I decided I would take my twenty year hobby as a runner and turn that into a website for runners. As a matter fact I do have a blog up until the full blown website is completed. I thought I would share some of our path to the internet for others to see.

I hope that some other runner's might want to do the same and join up with us. And it really doesn't have to be runners I'm looking for. It could be other crafters or people with a hobby or a home based business. Any small operation wanting to grow their specialty into a money generating website! At Site-build-it you will learn how to build your own website.

They also have an extreamly profitable affiliate program that you'll earn a residual income for as long as you are in it! I am building a website (store) that will have everything imaginable in it for runners. Almost every thing in the store will be products that have an affiliate program offered. Just don't expect a race out of me. The only thing you see me racing these days is a mouse on my PC.
